A law firm seeks a Technology Specialist or Patent Agent with a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field to join its Electrical and Computer Technologies practice group. This role is crucial for ensuring the protection of intellectual property and promoting innovation within the technology sector.

Duties

  • Analyze technical disclosures and engage in client interviews to gain a deep understanding of new inventions.
  • Conduct thorough literature and patent database searches to assess the patentability of inventions.
  • Prepare detailed written evaluations regarding the feasibility of obtaining patent protection.
  • Draft comprehensive patent applications with precision.
  • Formulate and submit responses to inquiries from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Develop compelling arguments for patentability to present to Patent Office Examiners.
  • Conduct patent reviews as part of the intellectual property due diligence process for potential mergers or acquisitions.

Requirements

  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and function effectively within team environments.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, maturity, and a curious approach to challenges.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective interaction with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners.
  • A solid work ethic combined with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
