Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Law Associate to join its expanding West Coast team in San Diego, California. This role requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a strong background in employment litigation, particularly wage & hour class actions and PAGA cases. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute to the firm’s success through quality legal work and positive client interactions.

Duties:

  • Assist in managing wage & hour class actions and PAGA cases for private sector corporate clients in California.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective case strategies.
  • Prepare for and assist with depositions, hearings, motions, and mediations.
  • Draft and respond to written discovery, including E-discovery and class/PAGA mediation discovery requests.
  • Analyze complex wage & hour data related to class/PAGA claims.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and motions.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and attend trials as needed.
  • Maintain proactive communication with team members and clients.
  • Handle various aspects of litigation, including lawsuits, administrative charges (EEO, DOL), pre-litigation demands, and subpoenas.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on wage & hour class actions and/or PAGA cases.
  • Strong legal writing, communication, and research skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and cases simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California Bar.
