Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and expand the firm’s General and Transactional Real Estate practice, handling complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, leasing, and development projects.
  • Manage a client portfolio with a minimum of $600,000 in annual portable business, with a focus on building long-term client relationships.
  • Provide expert legal counsel to clients, including developers, investors, financial institutions, and corporate entities, on various real estate matters.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review transactional documents such as purchase agreements, leases, joint venture agreements, and financing documents.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams within the firm to deliver comprehensive legal solutions for real estate transactions that involve multiple practice areas.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior attorneys, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services and fostering professional growth.
  • Actively participate in business development efforts, leveraging personal networks and the firm's resources to attract new clients and expand the practice.
  • Contribute to the firm’s diversity and inclusion objectives by helping create a more inclusive legal environment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in real estate law, with a strong focus on transactional matters including acquisitions, sales, leasing, and financing.
  • Demonstrated success in client acquisition and business development, with a portable book of business generating at least $600,000 annually.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior attorneys.
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate law, including complex commercial real estate transactions, financing structures, and land use regulations.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage high-stakes transactions and provide strategic counsel to clients.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other practice groups to offer comprehensive legal solutions.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
  • Certifications or advanced training in real estate law or finance are preferred but not required.
