Job Title: Patent Prosecution and Litigation Agent

Job Overview: A distinguished law firm located in Walnut Creek, CA, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to join its dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation team. This position focuses on providing expertise in the prosecution and litigation of patents, specifically in the fields of electrical engineering, Mechanical, and related areas. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent prosecution, litigation, and a solid technical background in relevant fields.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical engineering, software, and technology.
  • Manage patent portfolios and communicate with clients to address their IP needs.
  • Prepare legal documents, including opinions, patent applications, and office action responses.
  • Assist in patent litigation matters, including supporting the preparation of pleadings, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop IP strategies and provide technical guidance.
  • Research relevant legal issues related to patent prosecution and litigation.

Requirements:

  • Experience in patent prosecution, particularly in electrical engineering, software, or Mechanical.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 3-6 years of legal experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
  • A background in design engineering with a chip company is a plus.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as networking, wireless networks (3G/4G/5G), or similar is desirable.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, or a related technical field is required.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is mandatory.
