Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join its team in Newport Beach, CA. The ideal candidate will have more than 3 years of sophisticated law firm experience in California courts and be well-versed in labor and employment law. The role requires a candidate with strong academic credentials, superior analytical and research abilities, and excellent writing and communication skills. The attorney will be expected to provide legal counsel to clients on a variety of labor and employment matters, handle litigation, and assist with risk management and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in labor and employment law matters in California courts.
  • Provide counsel on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and agreements.
  • Handle litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Advise clients on employee relations, wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, and other labor law issues.
  • Manage client relationships and provide regular updates on case status and legal developments.
  • Assist in developing strategies to resolve disputes and mitigate risk.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and legal staff on case management and strategy.

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • 3+ years of sophisticated law firm experience, with a focus on labor and employment law.
  • Experience practicing in California courts is required.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Active California State Bar license required.
