Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney with 4-7 years of experience to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will be intensely interested in complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and financial services litigation. This role requires exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively across offices, and strong case management capabilities. The successful candidate will have experience in analyzing, researching, and drafting briefs for sophisticated legal issues, preparing and arguing motions, and trial preparation.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze, research, and draft briefs on sophisticated legal issues in complex litigation.
  • Prepare for and argue motions successfully.
  • Prepare outlines and exhibits for depositions.
  • Engage in trial preparation, including developing outlines and exhibits for direct and cross-examinations.
  • Strategize and analyze cases effectively.
  • Oversee and mentor junior associates.
  • Manage case developments and progress efficiently.
  • Collaborate with cross-office teams on various cases.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Interest and experience in complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and financial services litigation.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work on a collaborative, cross-office team.
  • Excellent case management skills.
  • Experience in preparing and arguing motions.
  • Trial preparation experience, including preparation of outlines and exhibits for direct and cross-examinations.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking ability.
  • Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior associates.
  • Law Review experience preferred.
  • Solid academic performance.
  • Must be in good standing with the IL or NY State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance.

Certifications:

  • Must be a member in good standing of the Illinois or New York State Bar.
