A prestigious law firm is currently seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join their dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation team, specializing in Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering. Duties

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, focusing on Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering technologies.
• Collaborate with attorneys to develop and execute strategies for patent prosecution and litigation.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Prepare and file responses to office actions and manage prosecution timelines.
• Assist with litigation matters, including patent infringement analysis and preparation of legal documents.
• Support clients in patent portfolio management, including strategic filing and patent lifecycle management.
• Engage in interactions with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and coordinate communications for patent filing and prosecution.

Requirements

• Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications.
• Registered with the USPTO as a Patent Agent.
• Strong understanding of patent law and intellectual property, with specific experience in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Mechanical Engineering fields.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Proven organizational and analytical capabilities.

Education

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field such as Physics or Mathematics.

Certifications

• USPTO registration is required.

Skills

• Strong patent prosecution experience, particularly in application drafting.
• Familiarity with patent litigation processes is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex legal and technical issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client and colleague interactions.
• High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
