A law firm seeks an experienced Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join their growing team. Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to clients, advising them of their rights and responsibilities in criminal matters.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and other case-related materials.
  • Represent clients at pretrial hearings, and advise them on strategies after each hearing.
  • Manage all aspects of case preparation, including court appearances, trials, and witness interviews.
  • Perform legal research and analyze potential outcomes based on legal precedents and case details.
  • Collaborate with a team of criminal defense attorneys and legal assistants to ensure effective case management.
  • Gather and present additional evidence to strengthen the client’s defense or counter the prosecution’s claims.
  • Help develop case strategies by interviewing witnesses, reviewing expert testimony, and preparing clients for depositions.

Requirements

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense, handling complex cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively advise and support clients.
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing with the relevant jurisdiction (California).
