Job Overview: A law firm in Fresno, CA, seeks a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join the team. The successful candidate will work on diverse legal matters across multiple practice areas, providing valuable expertise and support to clients.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues across various practice areas, including Cannabis, Code Enforcement, Contracts & Public Works, Economic Development, Education, and more.
  • Draft legal documents, including briefs, contracts, pleadings, and memoranda, for review and approval by the Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Perform discovery of electronically stored information and hard copies in preparation for litigation.
  • Analyze and summarize legal documents and contracts, suggesting modifications when necessary.
  • Evaluate potential outcomes of cases based on legal precedents and advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and strategies.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and hearings before government agencies as required.
  • Gather evidence and interview witnesses to prepare litigation cases.
  • Consult with colleagues and specialists on legal issues to ensure comprehensive case preparation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients and provide updates on case progress under the guidance of the Supervised Attorney (s).
  • Supervise Legal Secretaries and Paralegals as needed, ensuring efficient workflow and deadline adherence.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to legal matters and manage case files effectively.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California and current license to practice law.
  • 2-7 years of relevant experience in a law firm setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with clients and present legal arguments.
  • Persuasive and negotiation skills essential for effective representation in legal proceedings.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail in drafting legal documents and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and professionalism in the legal profession.
  • Prior administrative and managerial experience preferred.
