Tax Associate

A law firm seeks a highly skilled Tax Associate to join its growing transactional tax team in Virginia Beach, VA. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in M&A, partnership matters, and fund formation, looking to expand their expertise in REITs, joint ventures, and private equity. Duties

• Advise clients on tax-related matters in M&A transactions, partnership structuring, and fund formation.
• Guide REITs, private equity, and joint venture tax issues.
• Draft and review tax-related documents, including partnership agreements and corporate structures.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver tax-efficient strategies.
• Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations, applying this knowledge to ongoing client matters.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in transactional tax law with a focus on M&A and partnerships.
• Experience in fund formation, REITs, joint ventures, and private equity tax matters is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex tax issues and provide client-focused solutions.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation is a plus, or significant coursework in taxation at the J.D. level.

Certifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Virginia or eligible for admission.

Skills

• Strong understanding of tax laws, especially as they apply to corporate and partnership tax matters.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in legal writing and tax research.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
