A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a motivated and dedicated Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join their dynamic Criminal Defense Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for criminal defense and be eager to gain hands-on experience in handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload, including client interactions and collaboration with the Criminal Defense Team of attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and responsibilities in various criminal matters.
  • Draw up legal documents related to clients' cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients on the best strategies following each hearing.
  • Represent clients in court appearances, trials, and hearings.
  • Draft motions, interview witnesses, and perform extensive legal research.
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits.
  • Accumulate additional evidence to support clients' cases or to counter the prosecution's charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and determine essential goals of case strategies.
  • Gather information from witnesses and key experts to support clients' positions.
  • Collaborate with fellow associates to strategize and support team efforts.
  • Utilize bilingual skills (Spanish) to communicate effectively with clients (preferred).

Requirements:

  • Newly sworn-in attorneys will be considered.
  • Experience handling complex criminal cases during internships or clerkships is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona or pending admission.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • High-caliber interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
