Duties

  • Oversee and manage a family law caseload, ensuring deadlines and required actions are met.
  • Supervise paralegals, providing guidance and oversight.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including:
    • Original petitions, answers, and counterpetitions.
    • Pre-trial discovery materials.
  • Represent clients as lead counsel in court proceedings, including bench and jury trials.
  • Attend mediations, depositions, and other case-related proceedings.
  • File post-judgment motions, bills of review, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the family law department to provide assistance as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, attorneys, court staff, and judicial officers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members and address corrective actions when necessary.

Requirements

  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in family law.
  • Strong trial advocacy skills and litigation experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and reliable attendance.
  • Occasional travel as required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
