Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its team focused on electrical engineering and software technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, prosecuting, and litigating patents for cutting-edge technologies in the electrical engineering and software sectors.

Location:

  • Glendale, CA

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for technologies in electrical engineering, software, and related fields
  • Represent clients in patent litigation and patent-related disputes
  • Advise clients on intellectual property strategy and patent portfolio management
  • File responses to office actions with the USPTO
  • Conduct patent searches, analysis, and evaluations
  • Work closely with engineers and technical teams to understand inventions and prepare legal documents
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to clients, courts, and other stakeholders
  • Provide strategic patent counseling to clients

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and litigation
  • Admitted to the USPTO (required)
  • Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus
  • Experience with wireless communication technologies (5G, 6G, 3GPP standards) is desirable but not mandatory
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration required

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent prosecution and litigation
  • Technical knowledge in electrical engineering, software, or related fields
  • In-depth understanding of patent law
  • Legal research and analysis
