Job Title: Patent Agent/Tech Advisor

Job Overview: A law firm based in Boston, MA, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Patent Agent to join its patent counseling and prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have substantive industry experience, a strong technical background, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
  • Analyze patent and scientific papers and documents to assist patent attorneys with prosecution, counseling, and litigation
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions

Requirements:

  • 1 year of law firm experience
  • Substantive industry experience in chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or biomedical engineering
  • Registration as a US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam

Education:

  • Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field)
  • An advanced degree is a plus

Certifications:

  • Registered US patent agent or eligible for registration

  • Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English
