Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join its growing team in the Greater Los Angeles area. Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and efficient case progress.
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law matters.
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss strategies for their immigration cases.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to clients on potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, legal writing, detained cases, citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in California is required.

  • Proficiency in immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong client relations and interpersonal skills.
