Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is looking for a dynamic and experienced Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join their Electrical Engineering & Software Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, particularly in the areas of computer science and electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will have a background in intellectual property (IP) law with a focus on patent prosecution and litigation.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the areas of electrical engineering and software.
• Represent clients in patent litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Provide strategic guidance on patent portfolios, including patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis.
• Engage with clients to understand their technological innovations and provide legal support.
• Work closely with engineers and inventors to prepare patent filings and manage intellectual property assets.
• Ensure compliance with USPTO rules and regulations.

Requirements:

• Experience in intellectual property law, particularly patent prosecution and litigation.
• Strong background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Design engineering experience, especially with chip companies, is a plus.
• Familiarity with technologies such as networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, etc.
• 2-6 years of legal experience in IP law.
• Must be admitted to the USPTO.
• MA Bar membership is required, with the ability to obtain licensure as soon as possible; California bar membership is a plus.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Relevant technical degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
• Bar licensure in Massachusetts or the ability to become licensed in MA is required.
• California Bar licensure is preferred.
