Job Overview
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Discovery Attorney to join its team. The role requires experience in advising and supporting case teams and clients across all stages of the eDiscovery process, from preservation through production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing pre-litigation information governance, deposition and witness preparation, and trial preparation. This position also includes overseeing junior attorneys, project attorneys, and service providers to ensure the highest level of quality and consistency in the eDiscovery process.

Duties

  • Advise and support clients and case teams throughout all phases of eDiscovery, including preservation, collection, processing, review, and production.
  • Provide guidance on pre-litigation information governance, deposition and witness preparation, and trial support.
  • Develop and implement case-specific workflows and protocols for eDiscovery, focusing on risk mitigation, cost control, and defensibility.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, technologists, case teams, and clients to ensure successful case outcomes.
  • Oversee the quality of work produced by Discovery Attorneys, Project Attorneys, and service providers to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage and supervise teams involved in the eDiscovery process, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in eDiscovery and litigation support.
  • Licensed and in good standing in the state where the position is located.
  • Strong knowledge of eDiscovery laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage eDiscovery workflows and advise case teams.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • eDiscovery-related certifications (e.g., Relativity Certified Pro, Certified E-Discovery Specialist) are preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other collaboration tools.
  • Expertise with Relativity is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and manage teams and service providers.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality work.

This is a branch office of an exciting national law firm with nationwide litigation practice in general trial and appellate practice before state and federal courts, insurance coverage litigation and counseling, directors and officers liability, professional liability, environmental/mass tort coverage, white collar criminal defense, real estate and golf course development, biotech, and general business counseling. The Chicago office is focused on insurance coverage litigation and counseling for clients in Chicago and the Midwest. The lawyers of this small office seem to truly enjoy working together.
