Job Overview:

A law firm based in Newark, NJ, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Use and Redevelopment Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in land use law and a proven track record of handling applications before municipal planning and zoning boards. The candidate should be adept at navigating the complexities of county, state, and federal permitting processes and have experience with redevelopment project approvals.

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel and representation to clients on land use and redevelopment matters.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents related to land use and zoning.
• Represent clients in applications before municipal planning and zoning boards.
• Advise clients on county, state, and federal permitting requirements compliance.
• Develop and implement strategies for securing approvals for redevelopment projects.
• Conduct legal research and analyze case law related to land use and redevelopment.
• Assist clients with property acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
• Handle disputes and litigation related to land use and zoning issues.
• Collaborate with municipal officials, planners, and other stakeholders to advocate for clients' interests.
• Keep abreast of land use laws and regulations changes, ensuring clients receive up-to-date advice.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of land use experience with a private law firm in New Jersey.
• Admission to practice law in New Jersey.
• Demonstrated experience with applications before municipal planning and zoning boards.
• Knowledge of county, state, and federal permitting processes.
• Experience with redevelopment project approvals is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar.
