A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a Mid-level Oil, Gas and Resources Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in commercial litigation, including class and mass actions, ideally within the energy sector. The role will involve handling complex litigation matters related to the oil and gas industry, such as royalty disputes, disputes between working interest owners, and property ownership disputes. The candidate will work closely with senior attorneys, receiving mentorship and opportunities to take on significant client responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex litigation matters within the oil and gas industry.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Assist with discovery processes, including drafting discovery requests, reviewing documents, and preparing for depositions.
  • Collaborate with clients and senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide legal advice.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and other court proceedings as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to or eligibility for admission to the Texas State Bar.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in commercial litigation, preferably with exposure to energy-related matters.
  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated commitment to client service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
