A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Associate Attorney to join their immigration law team. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience in immigration law, with priority given to those experienced in family-based and removal cases. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in family-based immigration cases, including petitions for visas, green cards, and citizenship.
  • Handle removal and deportation defense cases, including appearing in court and preparing legal arguments.
  • Manage business immigration matters, such as employer-sponsored visas and work permits.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and affidavits.
  • Provide legal advice and counseling to clients on immigration issues and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration laws and policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other legal professionals to provide comprehensive legal support.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations throughout case proceedings.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience in immigration law, with a strong preference for experience in family-based and removal cases.
  • Proven track record of handling various types of immigration cases.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of immigration laws and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility to obtain admission.
