Job Overview:

A reputable law firm in Chicago is seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney with 4-12 years of litigation experience to join their growing team. The successful candidate will handle a variety of legal matters, including medical negligence, corporate litigation, trade secret disputes, intellectual property issues, and personal injury cases. Location:

Duties:

  • Manage an existing caseload and ensure cases progress smoothly through all stages of litigation.
  • Handle cases from inception through to trial, including First and Second Chair roles in medical negligence trials.
  • Take and defend depositions of 213(f)(1), (f)(2), and (f)(3) witnesses.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, responses, and replies.
  • Issue and respond to written discovery.
  • Attend court appearances, mediations, and hearings.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the litigation process.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys to ensure continuous professional development and case strategy refinement.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
  • 4-12 years of litigation experience at a law firm.
  • Proven experience as a First or Second Chair in trial settings.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.

Skills:

  • Litigation and trial experience.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in taking and defending depositions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
