Associate Attorney with 1-5 years of experience in handling professional liability claims

A law firm in Roseland, NJ, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 1-5 years of experience in handling professional liability claims. The role involves managing a caseload with partner oversight, drafting legal documents, conducting research, attending legal proceedings, and preparing for trials. The ideal candidate should possess insurance defense litigation experience, superior written and oral communication skills, good organizational abilities, and familiarity with NJ & NY Civil Court Rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of professional liability claims under the supervision of partners.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses tailored to case specifics.
• Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed memorandums on case-related issues.
• Attend hearings, court conferences, and other legal proceedings as required.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses.
• Participate in inspections and other investigative activities pertinent to cases.
• Consult with expert witnesses to develop case strategies and strengthen technical arguments.
• Attend mediations to negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions.
• Prepare diligently for trials, including organizing evidence and drafting trial briefs.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar; admission to the New York State Bar is a plus.
• 1-5 years of experience handling professional liability claims.
• Insurance defense litigation experience is essential.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with NJ & NY Civil Court Rules.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar; admission to the New York State Bar is a plus.
