Job Title: Patent Agent - Medical Devices

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for a highly skilled Patent Agent to join their intellectual property team. The role will focus on medical device and bioengineering patent applications, assisting in drafting, prosecuting, and responding to office actions. Experience in mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and related fields is highly valued. The ideal candidate will be an expert in their field and can conduct prior art searches and offer valuable patent opinions.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the medical device and bioengineering fields
• Respond to office actions and correspond with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
• Prepare patent opinions and assist with related research and analysis
• Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability assessments
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients on patent strategies and portfolio management
• Stay current with trends in the medical devices and bioengineering industries
• Manage and track patent application statuses and deadlines

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent
• Strong experience with patent prosecution and drafting applications in the medical device and bioengineering sectors
• Expertise in mechanical engineering, AI, computer science, or a related field is preferred
• Admitted to practice before the USPTO
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet deadlines
• Strong research and analytical skills

Education:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Bioengineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Certifications:

• USPTO registration is required

Skills:

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in patent prosecution and related tools
• Familiarity with patent databases and legal software
• Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A proactive approach to solving complex patent issues
