A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Asbestos Attorney for its New York office. This full-time role involves managing asbestos-disease cases from intake through trial, including conducting depositions, managing discovery, client communication, and trial preparation. The position is ideal for a self-motivated, compassionate attorney with experience in personal injury or asbestos litigation who is dedicated to advocating for clients affected by asbestos-related diseases.

Duties

  • Collaborate with the Supervising Attorney on case preparation and motion work
  • Conduct client and witness interviews to gather relevant case information
  • Depose fact and expert witnesses as part of case development
  • Appear in court proceedings as needed
  • Assist in the preparation and response for plaintiff’s discovery
  • Communicate with clients and defense counsel on case matters
  • Review and analyze Social Security, medical, military, and union records for case relevance
  • Delegate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants to support case management

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience as an attorney, with a preference for asbestos or personal injury litigation experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of organization and time management
  • Compassionate approach when working with clients affected by terminal illnesses
  • Flexibility to adapt to clients' health-related needs

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New York (required)
  • Additional licensure in New Jersey and Pennsylvania is preferred
