A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney for their Fort Lauderdale, FL office. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience handling state and federal court cases, specifically in construction law and breach of contract disputes. This position involves a combination of litigation, legal research, and client management in a fast-paced environment. Duties:

  • Represent clients in state and federal courts, handling jury and non-jury trials.
  • Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, and trial briefs.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to address complex legal issues and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Manage a demanding caseload, ensuring effective prioritization and timely completion of tasks.
  • Oversee discovery, including taking and defending depositions, drafting interrogatories, and managing document review processes.
  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and advocate for clients’ best interests.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethics, and attention to detail in all aspects of legal practice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Florida Bar and eligibility to practice in federal courts within the Southern District of Florida.
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, with a focus on construction law, breach of contract, or related commercial litigation. Exceptional academic credentials may be considered for candidates with less experience.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills and the ability to persuasively argue complex legal issues.
  • Excellent legal writing and motion drafting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to handle a diverse caseload, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience conducting legal research and providing well-reasoned legal opinions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and support staff in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Florida Bar.
  • Eligibility to practice in federal courts within the Southern District of Florida.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation experience, particularly in construction law or breach of contract disputes.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
