A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its immigration practice in Miami, FL.

Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling a diverse caseload of immigration matters, conducting legal research, collaborating with team members, drafting legal documents, representing clients, staying updated on immigration laws, assisting in business development efforts, participating in training programs and seminars, upholding ethical standards, and maintaining accurate time records.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload of immigration matters such as non-immigrant visa applications, employment-based and family-based green card processes, naturalization applications, waivers of inadmissibility, and I-9 compliance.
  • Conduct legal research into immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, shareholders, paralegals, and administrative personnel on complex immigration matters.
  • Draft legal documents, including forms, letters in support, petition packages, and correspondence.
  • Take ownership of cases from beginning to end with limited supervision.
  • Contribute to case strategy and analysis using creativity, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Represent clients in interviews and other proceedings.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other parties involved in immigration cases.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and policies.
  • Assist in business development efforts, client consultations, and networking activities.
  • Participate in training programs, seminars, and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date accounting of time spent on each project.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Previous immigration and labor and employment experience is required, specifically with Employment-based immigration.
  • Excellent knowledge of immigration law and practice.
  • Strong academic credentials and research skills.
  • Admittance to practice in Florida is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to the Bar.
