Job Overview
A premier law firm in San Jose, California is seeking a dedicated and motivated Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a new attorney to gain valuable experience, grow within the firm, and collaborate with experienced criminal defense attorneys. The Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney will handle a variety of cases while receiving guidance and mentorship from senior attorneys in the firm.

Duties

• Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and offer strategic advice post-hearing.
• Manage court appearances, trials, drafting motions, conducting legal research, and interviewing witnesses.
• Analyze potential case outcomes by utilizing legal precedents.
• Oversee the caseload and ensure timely progression of each case.
• Provide legal analysis to clients, identifying potential case benefits and strategies.
• Gather and evaluate evidence to strengthen the case or challenge prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions, set case strategies, and liaise with witnesses and experts to support the client’s position.

Requirements

• Interest in gaining experience in criminal defense law.
• Desire to handle complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
• Team player, open to collaboration and strategizing with fellow associates.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in California (required).
