A law firm seeks a resourceful and detail-focused Bankruptcy Attorney to join its Grand Rapids-based team, concentrating on insolvency-related legal matters. This role suits an attorney who thrives in dynamic legal environments, enjoys untangling complex financial cases, and brings prior experience navigating debt relief mechanisms. The ideal candidate is authorized to practice in Michigan and has a solid footing in legal procedures surrounding financial restructuring and debtor-creditor relations.
Guide individuals and organizations through the legal framework of financial rehabilitation, including both voluntary and involuntary proceedings.
Represent clients in a variety of insolvency forums, including hearings, trustee meetings, and courtroom proceedings.
Collaborate with clients on strategy formulation to address distressed assets and protect their rights under federal and state regulations.
Draft, revise, and submit legal petitions, disclosures, and settlement documents in line with bankruptcy statutes.
Evaluate client financial information to determine relief eligibility under various insolvency law chapters.
Interface with courts, trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel to advocate for the client's interests.
Monitor case progress and maintain compliance with procedural deadlines and court requirements.
Provide counsel on pre- and post-filing actions to minimize legal exposure and maximize client outcomes.
Between one and six years of relevant legal practice.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing a docket of insolvency cases independently or under limited supervision.
Solid command of state-specific and federal procedures relevant to consumer and/or commercial bankruptcy.
Exceptional analytical skills with a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes and restructuring matters.
Strong verbal and written advocacy skills for effective client representation and negotiations.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.
Additional experience in related areas such as litigation, creditor rights, or financial services law is considered a plus.
