Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks a skilled Defense Attorney to join its legal team in Miami, FL. This role is designed for a Florida-licensed attorney with expertise in defense work, particularly in the areas of premises liability, bodily injury, and professional liability. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cases from start to finish, including research, discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation. Duties:

• Conduct legal research and draft related documents such as legal memorandums, motions, and pleadings.
• Respond to discovery requests and manage the discovery process for cases.
• Defend and conduct depositions, including gathering testimony and evidence.
• Represent clients in court hearings and mediation sessions.
• Prepare for and attend trials, ensuring all case details are thoroughly examined and addressed.
• Handle cases from inception to resolution, with an emphasis on defense strategies for premises liability, bodily injury, and professional liability matters.
• Prepare settlement agreements and collaborate with clients to achieve favorable outcomes.

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in Florida, preferably with a focus on defense litigation.
• Strong experience in handling premises liability, bodily injury, and professional liability cases.
• Proven ability to manage a case from initiation through trial, demonstrating proficiency in legal research, writing, and litigation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
