Job Overview:

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to play a pivotal role in managing the entire case handling process, from initial filing through to verdict. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in handling serious and catastrophic cases and be able to oversee and coordinate with staff and clients throughout the litigation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire case handling process, including initial filing to verdict.
  • Handle severe and catastrophic personal injury cases with high expertise.
  • Ensure staff compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Report to supervising attorneys and the firm's partners and supervise litigation assistants, paralegals, and case managers.
  • Screen potential litigation clients and conduct comprehensive case law research.
  • Manage case records and negotiate with insurance companies effectively.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents; prepare for and participate in mediations.
  • Interview and depose witnesses, advocate in trials, and prepare clients for depositions.
  • Provide counsel to clients and conduct investigations into coverage issues.
  • Engage in medical management and educate clients regarding their cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in personal injury law.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active member of the New York State Bar.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional people skills with high professionalism and client service orientation.
  • Proven experience in evaluating the value of claims.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines efficiently.
