Job Overview

Duties

  • Provide strategic solutions and explain complex immigration law concepts to clients
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including both detained and non-detained clients
  • Manage a diverse caseload and ensure timely case progression
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration centers
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, including those related to removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review and edit immigration applications to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding immigration law changes
  • Advise and consult with potential clients, developing effective strategies for their immigration cases
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Draft and file legal briefs related to various immigration matters

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Active CA Bar admission (or awaiting admission)
  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law, ideally through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and effectively
  • Previous experience with case management software is a plus
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active CA Bar admission (law graduates awaiting admission will be considered)
