Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Litigation Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join its team in New Orleans. The ideal candidate will have strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, and a proven track record in handling complex cases, ideally from inception through trial. The attorney will need to exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills while working collaboratively with a team to meet deadlines and client expectations.

Duties:

  • Manage litigation cases from beginning to trial, collaborating with senior trial attorneys when necessary.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic insights for case development.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials as needed.
  • Handle case management duties, including timekeeping and documentation.
  • Utilize technology and case management tools such as e-discovery, Excel, and other software to support casework and maintain accurate records.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment while adhering to deadlines.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably with a background in general or commercial litigation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage litigation cases from start to finish, ideally with trial experience.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
  • Basic proficiency in technology tools, including case management software and e-discovery platforms.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in Louisiana.
