A law firm seeks a talented and motivated Construction Defect Associate Attorney with 1-6 years of experience to join its expanding litigation team in Dallas. This position offers the opportunity to engage in complex construction defect litigation, representing a variety of clients, including contractors, developers, and insurers. The ideal candidate will handle all phases of litigation, from investigation through trial, with a focus on construction-related disputes.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of construction defect cases from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, and participate in mediations.
  • Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and arbitrations.
  • Review and analyze construction contracts, plans, and other technical documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and expert witnesses to prepare cases for trial.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and legal advice.
  • Conduct legal research on construction defect and liability issues.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and action plans.

Requirements:

  • 1-6 years of construction defect litigation experience or similar civil litigation experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in depositions, mediations, and courtroom appearances.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in litigation processes, including discovery, trial preparation, and legal document drafting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply construction laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and terminology is a plus.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and document management software.
