A law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team. This role requires 1-4 years of immigration law experience and offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. The candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and represent individuals in various immigration matters.

Duties:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage a personal caseload, including client interactions and case management.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Conduct intake interviews and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and present strategic solutions to clients based on immigration law concepts.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients and devise appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Perform legal analysis to identify potential benefits and strategies for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Work collaboratively with the Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants to ensure effective case management.
  • Utilize case management software to track and manage case progress (experience preferred).

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • 1-4 years of immigration law experience.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral advocacy and courtroom presence.
  • High-caliber interpersonal skills and effective client communication.
  • Ability to strategize and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in case management software preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
