Job Overview

A law firm seeks a driven and entrepreneurial Associate Attorney to join its team in New Philadelphia, Ohio. This role is ideal for an attorney eager to build a practice in a new geographical area or expand into a practice area not currently covered by the firm. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while managing a diverse caseload and fostering client relationships. Strong business development skills and a proactive mindset are key to success in this position.

Duties

  • Provide skilled legal representation to clients within the designated geographic or practice area.

  • Develop case strategies, oversee legal proceedings, and manage client expectations.

  • Accurately estimate legal service costs, communicate financial obligations to clients, and maintain adequate retainer balances.

  • Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and trials, ensuring a high level of advocacy.

  • Handle negotiations, mediations, and settlements to achieve favorable client outcomes.

  • Collaborate with professionals such as CPAs, social workers, and mental health experts to advance case objectives.

  • Manage cases efficiently with the support of paralegals and administrative staff.

  • Participate in networking, marketing, and community engagement to expand client base and firm presence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of litigation experience.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain a book of business.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Technologically proficient with case management systems and virtual collaboration tools.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for hearings and trials.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Ohio State Bar (additional Bar admissions are a plus).
