Transactional Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Transactional Attorney with expertise in mortgage finance and loan documentation for a fully remote position. This opportunity allows for growth in a niche legal field, focusing on representing private lenders and brokers in loan transactions, fund formation, regulatory compliance, and more. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant experience and a strong attention to detail. The firm offers a flexible schedule and a collaborative work environment.

Duties:

• Draft, review, and revise loan documentation for private lenders, including hard money loans, business-purpose loans, and commercial real estate-secured loans.
• Advise clients on compliance matters related to private lending, including transaction structuring and risk management strategies.
• Conduct ongoing legal research to stay current on lending laws, including usury laws, Fair Lending regulations, and state-specific guidelines.
• Assist with loan modifications, foreclosures, and workouts as required.
• Manage client time commitments and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
• Work autonomously in a remote setting while maintaining collaboration with the firm's legal team.
• Attend industry conferences and occasionally travel for professional development.

Requirements:

• Active bar membership (preferably licensed in California, but open to all U.S. licensed attorneys).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in loan documentation, private lending, mortgage finance, or related transactions.
• Experience with commercial loan documentation and hard money lending is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage a high volume of work.
• Willingness to take the California Bar exam if not currently licensed in California.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
• Preferred: California Bar license (or willingness to obtain).
