A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney with a focus on student services and disabilities law. This position is ideal for candidates eager to advocate for the rights of students from preschool through 12th grade. The successful candidate will collaborate with seasoned attorneys and engage in various legal matters that affect educational access and equity.

Duties

  • Assist senior associates, of counsel, and partners in addressing legal issues related to student services and disabilities.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, precise legal documents.
  • Provide guidance on special education law, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Support clients in navigating student-related litigation and interactions with regulatory agencies, such as the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Collaborate with team members to formulate effective legal strategies and solutions tailored to client needs.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in education law or a related field.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.
