A law firm is seeking a talented and driven Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney for its Houston, TX office. This position is ideal for an attorney with significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy litigation, and a strong background in data privacy laws and incident response. The successful candidate will manage case work-ups, and trial preparation, and advise clients on sophisticated matters, making practical recommendations based on their expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all elements of case work-up and trial preparation, including discovery, pretrial motions, and witness preparation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft high-quality legal documents such as briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Provide practical, client-focused advice on complex legal matters, especially related to tech transactions, data privacy, and incident response.
  • Engage directly with clients to address their needs and work on sophisticated legal matters.
  • Keep up-to-date with federal, state, and international privacy laws, advising clients on legal implications and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop litigation strategies, prepare for hearings, and drive successful legal outcomes.
  • Work within a team-oriented environment and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas State Bar (or eligibility for admission).
  • Significant litigation experience, with a preference for candidates with privacy litigation experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously from inception to trial.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with experience drafting various legal documents.
  • Experience in federal, state, and international privacy laws is highly desirable.
  • Superior writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Privacy litigation experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a law firm or a similar legal environment.
  • Familiarity with technology transactions, data privacy, and cybersecurity-related legal issues.
  • Knowledge of data breach response protocols and handling incident response matters.
