Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm seeks a Patent Agent with expertise in patent prosecution and litigation. This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team specializing in Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing patent applications, managing prosecution processes, and providing strategic litigation support.

Duties:

• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications for clients in Electrical Engineering & Software or Mechanical Engineering.
• Provide strategic guidance on patent portfolios, including advising clients on patentability, infringement, and invalidity issues.
• Work with senior attorneys to manage patent litigation matters, including analyzing and preparing technical documents.
• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide high-quality legal advice.
• Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and business leaders, to ensure patent applications align with business goals.
• Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

• Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting applications.
• Strong knowledge of patent law and USPTO procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Education:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.

Certifications:

• Registered to practice before the USPTO.

Skills:

• Expertise in patent prosecution and litigation, particularly in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Excellent drafting skills for patent applications and claims.
• Ability to analyze and assess patent portfolios.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Familiarity with patent litigation processes.
