Job Overview
A prestigious law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a highly experienced Immigration Attorney to join their legal team. This full-time position involves working with clients on various immigration matters, including petitions, asylum, deportation, and visa applications. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in immigration law and at least 2 years of court experience. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Duties

  • Provide expert legal advice on immigration matters such as citizenship, visas, deportation, and asylum
  • Represent clients in U.S. Immigration Court for cases such as 42A, 42B, asylum, and CAT
  • Handle family-based petitions, employment-based cases, waivers, and consular processing
  • Conduct legal research and draft petitions, motions, waivers, and other relevant legal documents
  • Prepare and present strategic solutions to clients on complex immigration issues
  • Manage the immigration litigation process within the legal team
  • Advocate for clients facing deportation or seeking legal residency
  • Assist in preparing clients and witnesses for court and USCIS appointments
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with client and organizational information

Requirements

  • Must be an active member in good standing of the Bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing immigration law
  • At least 2 years of experience in court litigation
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to use case studies to support legal claims
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and MacOS systems

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active Bar License in good standing

Certifications

  • Active Bar License (Required)

  • Ability to handle complex immigration cases with a focus on family petitions, asylum, and visa processing
