Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is hiring an associate to join its Business Restructuring & Reorganization team in Washington, DC. Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in creditor-side matters, including hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in both chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Handle debtor-side matters, particularly in high-profile chapter 11 cases, including cross-border cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Assist in distressed acquisitions and restructuring transactions.
  • Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in providing strategic legal advice.
  • Directly engage with clients, managing cases and providing regular updates.
  • Work within a cross-functional team to address intricate restructuring challenges.

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of experience in business restructuring and reorganization.
  • Significant exposure to both creditor and debtor-side representations.
  • Experience in chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed acquisitions.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and financial issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact directly with clients.
  • Ability to manage a significant workload and work independently.
  • Admission to the DC State Bar or eligibility for admission.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school (Class years 2017–2021 preferred).

Certifications:

  • Admission to the DC State Bar or eligibility to apply.

  • Expertise in business restructuring and reorganization.
  • Solid understanding of chapter 11 bankruptcy and out-of-court restructuring processes.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
