Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking an entry-level Associate Attorney to join its Creditor's Rights team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for attorneys interested in creditor's rights, including foreclosure, legal debt collection, and litigation. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for preparing and filing pleadings, advocating in court hearings, and managing motion practice. This role is ideal for an attorney seeking trial preparation experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the opportunity to work alongside experienced trial lawyers.

Location:

  • New York City, NY

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and file pleadings and court documents on behalf of clients.
  • Advocate in litigation on behalf of clients' interests.
  • Appear for court hearings and argue motions.
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel to discuss motions and potential settlements.
  • Gain knowledge of and train on the New York and New Jersey court systems.
  • Learn and participate in the foreclosure and collection process functions.

Requirements:

  • Admission to practice law in New York and New Jersey (or eligibility to practice in both states).
  • New Jersey and/or New York litigation experience is a plus.
  • Experience in foreclosure or legal debt collection is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (and New Jersey State Bar, or eligibility for admission to New Jersey).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to draft and review legal documents accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of foreclosure and legal debt collection practices is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
