Duties

  • Provide strategic guidance and legal counsel on immigration matters.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a varied caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and accurate handling.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Draft and file immigration applications, including petitions for removal defense, family-based immigration, and other relevant cases.
  • Review and adjust immigration petitions and applications as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
  • Offer strategic consultations to potential clients and develop tailored immigration strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS testimony.
  • Prepare legal briefs for a range of immigration-related cases.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Admitted to the California State Bar.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize a caseload.
  • Experience handling various immigration cases, such as family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, detained cases, citizenship, and more.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California (CA Bar).
