Job Title: Family Law Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm located in Kirkland, WA is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Family Law Attorney to join their legal team. This position offers an opportunity to represent clients through complex family law matters such as divorce, child custody, and domestic disputes. The firm values professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to client advocacy. This role requires someone with excellent negotiation and legal skills who can work independently while providing empathetic support to clients through some of life's most challenging transitions.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, financial disputes, and cases involving domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues.
  • Develop and implement tailored legal strategies to suit each client’s unique needs and evolving circumstances.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and legal support staff, delegating tasks as needed.
  • Maintain and manage a required number of billable hours to ensure effective case management.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Provide clients with sound legal advice and maintain clear and compassionate communication.
  • Stay updated on family law statutes and case law to ensure high-quality legal representation.
  • Participate in professional development activities, family law community involvement, and contribute thought leadership in the field.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Proven experience in family law, with a strong focus on divorce, custody disputes, and other family-related legal matters.
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally and efficiently.
  • Experience in working with billable hours and delegating tasks to support staff.
  • Familiarity with family law practice management systems and billing tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of family law procedures in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in the state of Washington.
