Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Patent Associate to join its growing and dynamic Intellectual Property (IP) practice. This role is ideal for a candidate with 1–3 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications, advising on IP matters, and supporting IP licensing and litigation. The candidate should have strong analytical and writing skills, as well as an excellent academic record. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-performing IP team.

Location:

  • Cherry Hill, NJ.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute US and foreign patent applications.

  • Counsel clients on IP matters, including patent strategies and portfolio management.

  • Assist in IP licensing, transactions, and litigation.

  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

  • Support senior attorneys in complex IP-related legal work.

  • Participate in client meetings and provide strategic advice regarding IP issues.

Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of experience in patent law, specifically in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

  • Experience in advising on IP matters, including patent strategies and portfolio management.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and competing deadlines effectively.

  • Strong academic background with excellent analytical and research skills.

  • Patent Bar eligible.

  • PA, NJ, and/or DE bar eligibility preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field.

Certifications:

  • Patent Bar eligible.

  • PA, NJ, and/or DE bar eligibility preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and research skills.

  • Familiarity with patent prosecution processes and IP counseling.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with senior attorneys.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
