Job Overview:

A leading law firm is looking for an experienced and dynamic Lead Attorney to manage and oversee its Social Security Disability (SSD) team. The Lead Attorney will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of SSD cases, ensuring legal compliance, and mentoring Hearing Attorneys. This position requires a strong background in Social Security Disability law and the ability to handle complex cases while maintaining high standards of legal practice.

Duties:

  • Day-to-Day Legal Operations:

    • Ensure compliance with Social Security Administration (SSA) guidelines, federal and state regulations, and legal best practices.
    • Handle complex, high-priority SSD cases, providing strategic advice and direction on case development.
    • Review and approve legal filings, briefs, and other documents related to SSD cases.
  • Legal Compliance:

    • Stay updated on changes to SSD laws, regulations, and policies to ensure the firm’s practices remain compliant.
    • Develop and implement internal procedures to maintain SSA compliance and adherence to deadlines.
    • Advise on and implement risk management strategies to avoid potential legal issues.
  • Supervision and Leadership:

    • Lead a team of Hearing Attorneys, offering mentorship, guidance, and training as needed.
    • Monitor the quality of legal representation provided by Hearing Attorneys, ensuring consistency and excellence.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional growth.
    • Foster a collaborative, efficient team environment, promoting the sharing of best practices and strategies.
  • Client Relations:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients with complex or high-stakes SSD cases.
    • Regularly update clients on the status of their cases and address any concerns promptly.
    • Provide legal guidance on SSD benefits, eligibility, and the appeal process.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Social Security Disability law, including case development, hearing preparation, and legal compliance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a legal setting, managing a team of attorneys.
  • Strong knowledge of Social Security Disability laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a leadership capacity.
  • Compassionate, client-focused, with a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (Texas).
