Labor And Employment Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of experience in labor and employment law. Experience in higher education law will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate must possess superior verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work directly with clients and develop and execute service strategies. They must be licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to waive into the New York State Bar.

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in labor and employment matters.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
• Assist with all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations.
• Negotiate and draft employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, severance agreements, and non-compete agreements.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff on complex legal matters.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing labor and employment law.
• Experience in higher education law preferred.
• Superior verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients.
• Ability to develop and execute service strategies.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to waive into the New York State Bar.
