A law firm seeks an experienced Employment & Labor Attorney to join its Los Angeles office. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in both employment counseling and litigation, handling a wide range of issues related to employment policies, regulatory compliance, and employee agreements. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in employment law and a strong interest in further developing expertise in advising clients and managing complex employment-related matters. A strong work ethic, excellent legal writing skills, and a client-focused approach are essential for success in this role.

Duties

  • Employment Counseling

    • Advise clients on employment policies, best practices, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Assist clients with developing and implementing employment agreements, including separation agreements, non-compete clauses, and confidentiality agreements.
    • Guide clients on issues related to statutory compliance, workplace policies, and employee relations.
  • Litigation

    • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including wrongful termination, wage disputes, and discrimination cases.
    • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents for litigation matters.
    • Manage discovery, conduct depositions, and participate in settlement negotiations and court proceedings.
  • Transactional Work

    • Draft, review, and negotiate various employment-related agreements and contracts.
    • Provide legal counsel on employment law matters in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
  • Client Relations and Mentorship

    • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and effective communication.
    • Mentor junior associates and guide legal research, case management, and professional development.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in employment law, including both counseling and litigation.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws, including anti-discrimination, wage and hour, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Proven experience advising clients on employment policies, regulatory compliance, and employee agreements.
  • Solid experience representing clients in litigation, including preparation of legal documents, handling discovery, and participating in depositions and trials.
  • Strong academic credentials and legal research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters to clients and stakeholders clearly.
  • Strong initiative and a high level of motivation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and cases effectively.
  • Current admission to the California Bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the California Bar.

  • Expertise in employment law, including statutory compliance, workplace policies, and employee agreements.
  • Experience with employment-related litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and provide clear, strategic advice to clients.
