A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in business bankruptcy and related litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, membership in good standing with the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Bars and related federal Bars (preferred), and prior experience at a regional, national, or well-regarded local firm. They should possess excellent writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to debtors, creditors, and other interested parties.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda on bankruptcy issues.
  • Draft and review bankruptcy pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
  • Negotiate and draft restructuring agreements, creditor agreements, and plans of reorganization.
  • Attend bankruptcy court hearings, meetings of creditors, and other related proceedings.
  • Manage client relationships and communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
  • Work collaboratively with partners, senior associates, and support staff on case strategy and execution.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar and Rhode Island Bar (preferred) in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business bankruptcy and related litigation.
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, and related legislation.
  • Experience representing both debtors and creditors preferred.
  • Bankruptcy court experience is essential.
  • Strong academic background with high academic achievement.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently and proactively.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar and Rhode Island Bar (preferred).
