Job Overview:
A dynamic, collaborative, and tech-forward law firm is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join its growing team. With offices in Fort Worth, New Orleans, Corpus Christi, and Houston, the firm offers a supportive environment for attorneys who are focused on bankruptcy law, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, creditor representation, and more. This position provides opportunities for growth, leadership, and compensation tied directly to billable hours, client acquisition, and business referrals.

Duties:

  • Handle Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, debt restructuring, and creditor representation.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including negotiations, filings, and court appearances.
  • Provide legal counsel to individuals, businesses, and creditors on bankruptcy matters.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with partners to grow the Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while referring clients to other practice areas as appropriate.
  • Engage in business development activities to expand the firm’s client base and market presence.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in bankruptcy law, with expertise in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 proceedings.
  • Substantial courtroom and negotiation experience, particularly in bankruptcy restructurings and creditor negotiations.
  • Ability to handle complex matters from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior attorneys.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or Louisiana (or eligible for waiver, depending on office location).
  • Portable book of business is a plus, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or Louisiana (or eligible for waiver, depending on office location).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of bankruptcy law, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, and creditor representation.
  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Leadership and mentorship skills for developing junior attorneys.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
